PHOTO TOUR: Portside at Grande Dunes

Portside at Grande Dunes, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Myrtle Beach, S.C., welcomes residents and families with a sophisticated beach-house vibe. Interior design firm StudioSIX5 (Austin, Texas) incorporated local influences and coastal trends together with modern and traditional senior living designs to create a coastal-transitional community, which opened in June 2019.

Blue and grays are the predominant neutrals, with pops of nautical and sunset colors throughout. Custom carpets and playful light fixtures were inspired by ripples in sand, ocean water, sea urchins, and schools of fish. The beachy vibe is also complemented by wood paneling, white trim, and aquatic accessories. The result is an environment that is equally casual, comfortable, and sophisticated.
