Jake is a native North Texan growing up in the outskirts of the DFW metroplex. He attended Denton Guyer High School and took part in the swim and water polo teams along with the school orchestra. Jake eventually followed in his three sibling’s footsteps to the University of Arkansas where he has recently graduated and joined the team at PRDG.
While growing up, Jake’s interest for architecture and design first started while walking through unfinished homes with his father. There was never a shortage of new construction being built and it quickly became a creative outlet for Jake, walking homes and discovering design ideas that were successful and his ideas to improve them. This routine drew Jake to the field of architecture and became his focus when deciding his post-secondary education path.
After graduating high school Jake attended the Fay Jones School of Architecture & Design at the University of Arkansas earning his Bachelor of Architecture in 2023. During his time at university, Jake designed and fabricated an experiment to study Cross Laminated Timber and the effects water exposure during construction can have on the material. This research led to him becoming a student presenter at the International Mass Timber Conference and securing new funding for mass timber research. He continues to enjoy researching innovative products and materials that improve senior living communities and enhance the experience for its residents.
Jake first came to PRDG as an intern in 2022 where he worked for the summer before finishing his degree and joining full time as a Designer in June of 2023. He works in both production and design roles where he helps create final visualization for new concept packages with PRDG’s Design Director, or working on expanding a projects documentation in every phase with one of the teams Project Architects or Principals. What Jake finds special about PRDG and the Senior Living design space is the versatility of projects that are created based on client and resident needs. In his time at PRDG Jake is thankful for his coworkers, as their inclination and eagerness to foster his learning for all things Senior Living will lead him to becoming the architect he wants to be.
Outside of work you can find Jake spending time with family and friends or starting a new crochet project. He also enjoys searching for the perfect Mid Century Modern furniture piece to add to his home. He is always taking on opportunities to try new things which has greatly helped in his transition onto the team at PRDG.
